As the date of the Consumer Electronics Show, most commonly known as CES comes closer every day, technology lovers all around the world wait anxiously to see what their favorite manufacturers have in store for them. One particular type of device will stand out among the many that will be displayed at the CES later this week in Las Vegas and that will be tablet devices, which have taken a new high in the market ever since the Apple iPad was released. Since then, there have been many tablet entrees in the market, the Samsung Galaxy Tab, the HP Slate 500, the BlackBerry Playbook, the ViewSonic Viewpad 7 are some of the big names in the tablet arena, and looks like Toshiba is all set to step into that arena as it plans to announce a new, yet unnamed 10.1-inch Android tablet this week at CES.

In the midst of all this tablet frenzy, consumers also await the launch of tablet devices from MSI and the “iPad Rival” tablets from Microsoft and this soon to be launched tablet from Toshiba may also draw attention towards itself. However, it should be kept in mind that the device is not yet ready for production as it awaits the new version of Android (Honeycomb), which is said to be optimized for tablet devices.
This Toshiba tablet will feature a dual-core Tegra 2 chip, a capacitive, 1280×800 resolution display, and a 5-megapixel back camera as well as a 2-megapixel front camera for video calls along with a full-sized USB and a mini-USB jack, HDMI, an SD card slot, and a rubberized, spill-resistant, replaceable back cover, all seem to be very exciting, but the downside is that it weighs more than the iPad (3G+Wi-Fi) with the former weighing in at 1.7 pounds and the latter at 1.6 pounds. Nevertheless, considering the spectacular set of features it sports, this new tablet from Toshiba just might prove to be a hit.
