Remember back last year when we first reported that popular bird-slinging game Angry Birds was going to make its way down to more traditional gaming platforms like Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3? Well here’s an update on that, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable owners can now rejoice as Angry Birds will be available for download as a PlayStation mini title this week.

One might ask what exactly is a PlayStation mini title? Simply put, PlayStation minis are smaller games that can be downloaded to the PSP or PS3. It looks like this particular mini version of Angry Birds will be rather similar to the versions of Angry Birds that are already available for iOS, Android and Symbian devices, complete with support for 63 levels of bird-flinging, block-busting, pig-smashing action.

The company behind this insanely popular game, Rovio, already confirmed that it was working on a console version of Angry Birds  for Xbox 360, the Nintendo Wii and the PS3. The game’s popularity can also be seen from the fact that it has topped 50 million free and paid downloads, breaking through as one of the true cross-platform hits of the smartphone age.

We’ve all loved Angry Birds on our smartphones and what not, but are you excited to get some bird slinging action on your PSP? Let us know what you think in your comments below.
