While rumors still circulate about the Apple iPhone 5, Bloomberg has a very interesting thing to report. It seems like Apple may be working on a smaller, cheaper iPhone priced at $200 without a contract. Intrigued? It may indeed be the previously much hyped about iPhone-mini or iPhone nano, exclusive pictures (later turned out as fake) of which we posted back in 2007. Details after the break.

One version would be cheaper and smaller than the most recent iPhone, said a person who has seen a prototype and asked not to be identified because the plans haven’t been made public. Apple also is developing technology that makes it easier to use the iPhone on multiple wireless networks, two people said.

The only legitimate logic for a smaller, and relatively lower priced iPhone is that Apple may launch this product in a bid to capture more market share, which is seeing constant and hard competition from Android. The iPhone nano prototype is said to be approximately one-third smaller than the regular iPhone 4, or so saying an individual who claims to have seen it last year.

While Apple has aimed to unveil the device near mid-year, the introduction may be delayed or scrapped, the person said. Few Apple employees know the details of the project, the person said.

So its been about two years ago since the iPhone nano became a hot topic, as it was said to be released in June of 2009. Nevertheless all of those rumors turned out not to be true, however, do you think this time it is for real? Sound off, in the comments below.
