According to leaked specs of the new MacBook Pro 13, we know that it is getting the directly built into Sandy Bridge processor Intel HD 3000 GPU. What about the mid-range and high-end new MacBook Pros? CNET reports that these machines, the 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pros, could very well be getting AMD (formerly ATI) graphics. Hit the break for more details.

AMD (formerly ATI) “discrete” graphics silicon is now offered in the larger, more powerful MBPs. As in previous MacBook Pros, the discrete graphics chip is only fired up when heavy lifting is needed. When power savings is paramount or high-end graphics processing is not necessary, the system defaults to Intel’s graphics.

The report also says that Apple will wait until Intel's Light Peak announcement before it reveals its new MacBook Pros.

Stay tuned as we'll definitely report once we hear more about the new MacBook Pros.
