More detailed comparisons are headed your way as we've already seen the BlackBerry Playbook vs Apple iPad 2 and Apple iPad 2 VS Motorola Xoom. The next tablet in line, is the recently launched webOS powered HP Palm TouchPad.

With the HP Palm TouchPad, HP looks to make a significant entry in the tablet arena which the iPad has been dominating ever since it came out. So in order to do that, it has to be better, or has to offer something unique, than the Apple iPad.

So lets dive into HP Palm TouchPad vs Apple iPad 2:

There you have the HP Palm TouchPad against the Apple iPad 2.

Verdict:

To me, it looks like the HP Palm TouchPad was made while looking at the original iPad, so as to make it thinner. Flash support out of the box is a good plus one for the TouchPad. Interestingly, HP has opted to avoid including a microSD card, just like Apple. There's just one front facing camera, so the HP TouchPad loses marks for that. The best part about HP Palm TouchPad is the all new webOS.

So how does the Apple iPad 2 measure up against the HP Palm TouchPad? Well Apple has made the iPad 2 thinner than the HP Palm TouchPad, so there's a win. No Flash, big loss. Loses marks for RAM as well. Has two cameras, brings it home. The iPad 2 runs the all new iOS 4.3, which brings considerable awesome-ness towards it.

Pricing details of the HP Palm TouchPad have not been revealed as yet, so we can't say for now if it will offer the same value for money, like the Apple iPad 2 does. On another note, the HP Palm TouchPad is rumored to ship from April.

So what would you rather have, the HP Palm TouchPad or the Apple iPad 2? What are the pros and cons of both the devices? Sound off, in the comments below.

You write “no” for the Touchpad on WiFi. That’s wrong.

It has been announced as launching with WiFi from the very beginning.

Why is the lack of a rear camera a minus? Because everyone else has one? That doesn’t seem to be comparing the merits so much as the common features. I always have my phone and would much rather take photos with it than a tablet. If I really want the picture on the Touchpad I can just tap to share with a Pre or use the USB port if I don’t have a Pre. The front facing camera is usefull for videoconferencing so I see the use in that, but in five years or less, no tablet will have a rear facing camera.

The NO is for 3G. The HP TouchPad does not have 3G. Well in a comparison you ARE supposed to point out the things that either one lacks. Besides, you can’t generalize the fact that everyone would always take pictures with their phones, they’ll prefer tablets with rear cameras as well, and a rear camera will immensely help in videoconferencing, allowing the other party to see exactly what you see in front of you. I however, doubt the fact that tablets will no longer have rear camera, further down the road from now.

The rear-facing camera is no good in business meetings, etc.  Nobody likes a camera pointed at them non-stop that they never know is on or off.  Smart move by HP as it makes it better for offices… especially offices with HP printers!

TouchPad is the winner for me, My wife has a iPad and without flash, I end up going to my laptop to complete searches. I also like the idea of the Touch Pad having a USB port, possibly giving you the ability to connect to other devices.

i choose the touchpad. also it does come with 3g, as well as 4g so it shouldn’t say no there, also it’s multitasking is far superior to ios it’s not even funny. as for the ipad 2 i will bet my life it doesnt only have 256 mb of ram, it has at least 512 like the iphone 4.
