Google Removes Malware Spreading Apps From The Android Market

Last week wasn’t by any means a good one for Google. The week started with the unpleasant and unsettling news of Gmail flaw which saw thousands of users losing their emails, folders and other customized settings. This was followed by the bad news of Android Market hosting 21 malware spreading apps. Thankfully, Google has done what it was supposed to do - remove the ill intentioned apps from the Android Market.

The publishers who uploaded the app on the Android app store will find their developer accounts suspended. Moreover law enforcement agencies have been informed about the attack as well which serves them right.

Google has started removing the malicious apps from the phones, remotely that is.  The notorious apps will be removed automatically from the affected Android handsets which is just the way it should. Android Market security update is being pushed to the affected devices which will undo the damaging exploit.

The proud makers of Android are also taking steps to prevent other malware apps which are based on the exploit from making it to the Android Market.
