Amazon Gets Sued By Apple Over App Store Trademark

Just days earlier, Amazon's AppStore went live with a relatively new way of getting apps for one's Android device. However, we all know how Apple feels about the term "App Store." Apple feels that nobody should use the term App Store, even if it's generic, because of its long term affiliation with the iTunes App Store. Now, Apple has sued Amazon for using App Store to define its new market of Android apps.

An Apple spokeswoman said:

We’ve asked Amazon not to copy the App Store name because it will confuse and mislead customers

Actually, Apple claims that it has asked Amazon thrice to change the name but to no avail. So Apple had to resort to a law suit against Amazon. As I previously mentioned, the term App Store is pretty generic in itself. Due to the fact that it has for long been affiliated with Apple's App Store, people may get mislead.

However, this is not a substantial reason upon which Apple could win the law suit in court. Let us see what arguments are presented from both sides before the final verdict.
