When Steve Jobs announced the new generation of MacBook Air in 2010, I had a feeling that the slim and light weighted Mac notebooks will appeal to the consumers and my thought has been seconded today. An analyst has revealed that the MacBook Air has been a hit product and will return Apple a revenue in the range of 2.2 billion dollars.

J.P. Morgan analyst Mark Moskowitz in a note to investors revealed what Apple needs to do get this massive revenue:
Assuming that Apple can sustain or increase the recent quarterly run rate of 420,000 units and pricing stats stable, annual MacBook Air revenues could track to $2.2 billion or better
The analyst while terming MacBook Air growth as moderate opined that the extremely light and easy to carry notebooks will increasingly contribute to the overall Mac business which will of course please Apple.
The last quarter of 2010 was a positive one as it saw Apple shipped 420,000 units of MacBook Air which makes up 10% of all Mac units sold in the quarter.
If a product is returning revenues like this, you have no choice but to term it as a revenue engine don't you?
