A new report claims that Apple has shipped around 2.4 to 2.6 million iPads during the month of March alone and it speculates that the iPad 2 shipping number is going to double in the second quarter. As you all already know by now, Apple sold 600,000 iPads in the first weekend from the launch.

Sales of iPad 2 are running at a rate faster than its predecessor, and Apple took delivery of 2.4-2.6 million units in March. Apple is likely to take delivery of 4-4.3 million units a month, or a total of over 12 million units, of iPad 2 tablets in the second quarter, said the sources.
From these numbers, it is pretty evident that the iPad 2 is selling at far higher numbers than the original iPad. An approximate number of four million units of iPad per month could be sold to overtake the previous record of the original iPad which took nine months for selling 15 million units. It is good to see that Apple is maintaining consistent supply of iPad 2s even though it was previously rumored that Apple iPad 2 shipments could be delayed owing to iPad 2 parts constraints.
The report also tells that all Asian parts suppliers for the iPad 2 are ramping up their production due to strong iPad 2 demand. However, that may be hard for them considering the recent natural disasters in Japan. Nevertheless, the future looks quite promising for the iPad 2.
