Microsoft is quite aware of the fact that Windows Vista was a big flop success therefore they have already started working on the next version of Windows i.e. Windows 7 which will most probably be called Windows Vienna.

Soon after the official word from Microsoft many interesting images and photos of Windows 7 have surfaced over the Internet at various blogs and forums. Even today, a video at YouTube made it to Digg frontpage demonstrating the features and tools of Windows 7.

I do not guarantee that these images are 100% authentic but to they do seem pretty much real and genuine. Take a look at all of these images of Windows 7 collected from various sources on the Internet along with the video demo of Windows 7.

Sizlopedia Tech Talk (April 2008)

I must say April 2008 has been a month of disappointment for me and Sizlopedia. In the later fortnight of April I was so much busy with some projects and my studies that I was not able to update Sizlopedia at all. I did write some posts but most of them were just news articles and unfortunately I couldn’t build up any exciting content.

The bigggest issue faced by me in April 2008 was high-server overloads even after moving to dedicated hosting. The server was, however, 100 times better than BlueHost but used to slow down often as a result of the constant server overloads. So to get rid of that I moved to SliceHost.

SliceHost offer unmanaged VPS hosting services and it is true that they do not oversell at all. You get good amount of resources for the amount you pay and the support as well as the administration panel is just amazing. With a little help from Pranjal and Michael I was able to setup my new VPS on my favorite OS i.e. Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon.

In the past couple of weeks, BlueHost has given Sizlopedia the worst time of its entire life. With almost over 4-5 hours of downtime every day, it had become impossible for Sizlopedia to survive on BlueHost shared box.

Last month we had a serious debate on whether BlueHost is Going Down on Quality? and surprisingly most of the readers agreed. Perhaps its also because of the continously growing traffic on Sizlopedia.

However I finally decided to get a dedicated server. Ross of SimpleHelp was kind enough to guide me in choosing a good dedicated hosting provider and I ended up buying a server from ThePlanet.

Even though its an unmanaged server, ThePlanet support guided me all the way in setting up my new server. I have cPanel/WHM plus I have much command over SSH (Thanks to Ubuntu terminal) so handling things is a smooth job.

I have already transfered Picsopedia to the server and its showing some good response. In the next couple of hours I will be completely moving Sizlopedia to the new server so the site may seem down for some of the readers.

Once the DNS has propagated, you will again be able to visit the site with much faster speed and efficiency. Don’t forget to give me your feedback on this.

Update: The transfer was successful all thanks to my 4 Backup transfer techniques. However I did lose some comments which was a result of the slow DNS resolution. I apologize to the readers who commented on this post but their comments were lost during the transfer.

Sizlopedia Tech Talk (March 2008)

As time passes on, it becomes really hard to compete with other technology blogs as basically all cover up the same stories and articles. But here at Sizlopedia I always try to spice up things a little bit by adding a personal touch to stories and articles. Also now that I have finally reached my 4th semester of Engineering, it is really becoming hard to cope with my university work/assignments and blogging but I never plan to give up.

March 2008 made the 14th successful month of Sizlopedia as a blog which has been struggling to create a difference in the blogosphere. While I was not so active at Sizlopedia in March, I learned quite a few new things about social networks and become a Twitter addict. I also switched to Linux (Ubuntu) and gave up Windows forever.

Surprising in March, Chitika helped Sizlopedia make more money than Kontera ever did in a month. However in April I plan to try the new Kontera Hybrid ads as I have been personally invited by Kontera to try them out.

Google Search Australia April Fools Day Prank

Google is famous for inventing new and innovative April Fools Day Pranks every year. The pranks are so creative and seem so original that an average Internet user (who is not much familiar with Google’s evil plans) can easily be fooled. Google April Fools Day pranks are always related to some of of its real products and services which adds the element of reality to them.

Today is April 1, 2008 (April Fools Day) and yet again Google has come up with some new pranks and jokes. The most unique and interesting of all is the gDay which is related to Google Search Technology. gDay is a new technology introduced by Google Australia which enables search content on the internet before it is created or in more simple words “Search the Future”

This new hypothetical and fictional search feature can predict almost anything on the web – tomorrow’s share price movements, sports results or news events. To rank these future pages in order of relevance, gDay uses a statistical extrapolation of a page’s future PageRank, called SageRank.

Checkout this gDay policy page in the end where Google claims that gDay is indeed an April Fools Day prank.

I love Google for its April Fools Day humor and this year it still hasn’t failed to amuse everyone. Perhaps more pranks will be introduced along the whole day so watch out for updates on this post.

Is BlueHost Going Down on Quality?

Since I started blogging, I tried many different hosts but finally I settled down with BlueHost as I found it the best and the most reliable. I have even tried other big hosting companies like DreamHost and HostGator but at some point they all fail to provide customer and user satisfaction.

Yesterday night, as most of you would have noticed, Sizlopedia went down for nearly 2 hours and later my shared hosting account on BlueHost was permanently suspended. This was a shocking and terrorizing moment for me as never before has BlueHost ever permanently suspended my hosting account (Though there have been some periodic temporary account suspensions due to high traffic overload but thats normal)

After struggling for over 20-30 minutes with Live BlueHost Chat (which is not that live anymore) I got in contact with a BlueHost support manager and the reason he gave me for my account being suspended was “site causing performance problems”

Later on it was discovered that the actual reason for my account suspension was due to a problem at BlueHost’s backend and my site had no relation to it (That makes sense! how can a site cause performance problems over night when it has a stable performance record for past 1 year)

Take this as a caution or as a serious note but you really need to consider deeply if you are planning to move to BlueHost. They are still the best (no doubt about that) but they have started overselling. Plus they are now hosting over 500+ websites on the same shared hosting box and remember that their Live-chat is not that active and responsive anymore.

Sizlopedia is all about Technology, Computers, Gadgets, How To’s, Softwares, Internet, Windows Tips and Tricks and Web 2.0 reviews. I hope my readers understand that all articles, posts and every single piece of information posted at Sizlopedia is to help users and make an impact on the blogosphere.

In the start of February 2008, I did not post any blog stats for the month of January 2008 because of some undisclosed reasons. This disappointed a lot of readers and I have been getting emails asking me to continue posting the blog statistics series. So after much consideration I have decided to continue the series with a different name now called Sizlopedia Tech Talk.

In this new monthly series I will be sharing some of the best posts for a particular month and will post about some of monthly blog statistics too. There will be news on the blog updates and I will be introducing a poll system which allows me to collect user opinion, criticism and suggestions.

Heliodisplay (3D Floating Holographic Displays)

Any fan of the movie Starwars or Minoriy Report or a similar futuristic movie is in for a real delight because one of the features that these movies boasted, was 3D Virtual Holographic Displays and seemingly Floating TouchScreen Displays are now a reality!

Yes you are not dreaming, these displays and the technology for these diplays has been finally perfected! IO2 Technologies have developed displays under the brand Heliodisplay, which projects any standard computer or video cable attached to the Heliodisplay system, and project video or images into mid-air.

Various models are available ranging sizes from 30″, 50″ and 100″ (diagonal) areas. The ‘i” version allows for a “virtual” touchscreen (new for December 2007). Amphibious Car (Drive above Land or Under Water)

They say that if you want to track the global progress and development of technology you should analyze the breakthroughs that take place in the automobile industry. New vehicles, cars and automobiles are a perfect reflection of how the technology of the world is pacing towards diversity and innovation.

Lately I shared a list of the 10 of the Most Sexy and Stylish Cars followed by a list of the Five Most Sexiest Electrically Powered Sports Car but today I am going to review a totally unique car featuring a technology that will allow people to drive above land as well as under water.

sQuba Car, being developed by Rinspeed is going to be the World’s First Ever Amphibious Car. It means that the car will be able to be driven on land or can be even taken under water. It shall have the capability to go as deep as 10 meters under water as beyond that the buoyant force and the water pressure will make the conditions unsuitable for a stable drive.

How does the sQuba Car work?

January 01, 2008 marks the beginning of a new year and it is the day on which Sizlopedia.com celebrates its first birthday.

Exact 1 year ago Sizlopedia.com came into being. I started this blog as a platform to share my interests and knowledge. The blog now primarily focuses on topics such as Blogging, Technology, Gadgets, Windows, Google, Tips and Tricks and Making Money Online ventures.

I have discovered a whole new world in the year 2007 and look forward to discover more of it in the coming years.

In this year I started a lot of cool open source projects. Here is a list of them:

Benazir Bhutto Assassination Video

Most of you would already know about the event that has left the heart of all Pakistanis filled with sadness and sorrow. It was the assassination of one of my country’s most powerful and talented woman Benazir Bhutto.

Though I hardly go off topic but being a representative of my country in the blogosphere and on the Internet world I must express the great sorrow that has overpowered my heart after the assasination of Benazir Bhutto.

She was a former prime-minister of Pakistan and had firm grounds of becoming the prime minister once again in 2008. They say that she wanted democracy but I say Benazir Bhutto is Democracy.

Here is the official assassination video of Benazir Bhutto as released by the Government of Pakistan. Though you will see gun shots being fired and a bomb blast but her actual death was caused due to a head injury and not because of any of the former.

I pray for her soul to rest in peace and may she get a place in heaven for serving her nation. Long live Benazir Bhutto!

Sizlopedia 3.0 Goes Live!

I guess this is the 2nd or 3rd time that I am officially announcing a new design and layout for Sizlopedia. Usually I keep on testing new designs and themes for this blog but I never declare them through a post but this new layout is definitely worth the mention.

Sizlopedia 3.0 intends to give the blog a more professional and tech look. As everyone knows that this blog focuses on Technology, Internet, Software and Gadgets so I thought it would be nice if I can make a main page where all the content comes syndicated and in a beautifully presented manner.

Plus the new layout gives the blog the look of a Technology Magazine and the impression of being over crowded with useless advertisements is no longer there.

Many users and some of my friend bloggers think that this new layout is a heavily modded form of the Revolution Tech Theme by Brian Gardner which is really a big misconception.

Though the Revolution Tech Theme was my original inspiration for this new layout but I never bought it rather I coded this new layout from scratch in 14 hours time continuous (Even no Coffee breaks). Plus I made a full admin panel to manage all aspects of this new theme. I currently have no plans of making this theme free for download but you can expect that in the coming months.

I hope my readers like the new layout. All sort of criticism, comments and suggestions are welcome.

Sizlopedia Blog Statistics for November 2007

November 2007 brought Sizlopedia a hell lot of traffic (Enough traffic to break my all previous traffic records) and the earnings were quiet handsome too. In November, Google was kind enough to give me my old Google Pagerank back such that Sizlopedia is now again a PR 5 Blog. I expect to get a better Pagerank on the next PR update but for now I think Pagerank 5 is quiet good enough.

I have quit using Text Link Ads and Link Worth and have ceased paid reviews activities offered by Sponsored Reviews, Review Me and Blogsvertise.

This has definitely decreased my overall blog earnings but on the same time Google has started indexing Sizlopedia fast and my overall blog posts have a good Search Engine Ranking Position. Perhaps my concentration now will be more towards content than making money online.

GDrive May Soon Become a Reality

Ok we know that Google is the Gigabyte king and provides GBs of storage space for each of its services. Google recently upgraded Gmail such that now it provides a whooping 5 GB+ storage space to each of its users. So what exactly is the next big thing coming?

It might be the much awaited and highly rumored GDrive about which we have been reading all over the Internet and Blogosphere.

Wall Street Journal is reporting that Google is perhaps ready to unveil its Public Mass File Storage service in the coming new year. Whether it will be called GDrive or not, well thats again a very big mystery and Google has no official word on it yet. However the question is that how much space will GDrive provide to its users and will the space really be worth it now that we have a 5 GB big Gmail account and almost unlimited document file storage on Google Docs?

Microsoft SkyDrive and Yahoo Briefcase are the two online file storage services already launched by Google’s market competitors so if Google wants to revolutionize the concept of online file storage then it definitely should come up with something big and better.

October was mainly a month of mass disappointments for me. First of all I was busy with some new startups and projects and therefore could not give enough time to my blog and secondly Google was ~~evil~~ kind enough to drop my blog’s Google Pagerank from 5 to 3 following the paid link activities.

On the happy part, Picsopedia is now live and gaining traffic day by day. Picsopedia is a new image hosting service sponsored by Sizlopedia that gives you everything what you need from an image hosting site and its fast and easy to use features make it the best image hosting service for blogs.

Last, but not the least, Sizlopedia has yet again another new design which has come along very well. Earnings for this month will probably show a downfall because of quitting all paid link activities however the fun part is that the traffic remains the same throughout.

Perhaps this was the most successful month for Sizlopedia until now as far as revenue and traffic is concerned. Sizlopedia broke all of its own previous traffic and money making records and the good thing was that even though I put less effort in the blog this month it still managed to eat a lot of traffic from search engines and social bookmarking networks.

My special thanks goes to Ashwin whos indirect advice helped me increase my Google Adsense CTR and make more money with Google Adsense and now as for the traffic details I have a whole set of chronological data of Sizlopedia traffic stats for my readers below:
