Today marks a new day for all of us as we have entered into a new year where we develop new hopes to accomplish our goals but what makes this day special for this blog is that today Sizlopedia officially celebrates its 2nd birthday and now we are looking forward to its 3rd year in making.

From an iPhone to a Macbook Pro, this blog has given me everything that I ever wished for and I believe that it has only been possible due to the ever great support provided by my readers, friends and family.

Also recently I got a brand new car of my own, thanks to Sizlopedia. Much of the other achievements include being mentioned by TheNews which is leading nationwide newspaper in Pakistan and also being interviewed by the Dawn News.

On the personal part, I would like to thank Badar Khushnood (Google Country Consultant for Pakistan) who helped me gain media and public exposure in Pakistan and taught me lessons on how to build myself into a successful web entrepreneur.

On the second, I pay my gratitude to Jenae from Girlinyourshirt for reviewing us and promoting the blog over the Internet in good terms.

And above all, a very big thanks to all my readers from Pakistan and India and other parts of the world who have always been there to support me in all circumstances.

As you would have already noticed, a couple of contributing writers have joined us so we plan to make Sizlopedia bigger than ever in 2009. We are totally technology focused now and aim to bring you the best of the web in a unique and new manner.

Basically I have been busy all this time setting up and developing my new blog, Listphobia.com which promises to deliver some of the best list collections from around the web.

The idea came to my mind after I strictly observed the niche of some successful blogs over popular social networks such as StumbleUpon and Digg and finally decided to start a blog of my own. I paired up with some of my university colleagues, thought of a unique domain name and launched the blog almost a fortnight ago.

The idea for a blog like Listphobia is not new perhaps but what makes it difference is the manner in which the content is collected and presented. Listphobia has already made it to the frontpage of Digg once and is also getting constant peak traffic from StumbleUpon which makes it a pure hit.

Finally this blog managed to reach a traffic of half a million pageviews which indeed is a great achievement for me. The best thing I find about a blog is that the traffic, revenue and backlinks never stop growing as compared to static sites.

The traffic started rolling in with the post on How to Watch Beijing Olympics Online For Free. A good tip for new bloggers is to keep an eye on hot keywords in Google Trends and write content accordingly.

There were a total of 57 new posts in the month and the most noticeable post was on How to Update iPod Touch 2.0 for Free which managed to generate nearly 10% of the total traffic.

The total revenue generated in August is enough for me to sponsor a full 1 month vacation in Dubai for my whole family (no direct figures! keep guessing) and what I am excited about most is my new Macbook Pro.

The bigggest issue faced by me in April 2008 was high-server overloads even after moving to dedicated hosting. The server was, however, 100 times better than BlueHost but used to slow down often as a result of the constant server overloads. So to get rid of that I moved to SliceHost.

SliceHost offer unmanaged VPS hosting services and it is true that they do not oversell at all. You get good amount of resources for the amount you pay and the support as well as the administration panel is just amazing. With a little help from Pranjal and Michael I was able to setup my new VPS on my favorite OS i.e. Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon.

Yay! Finally I can buy a MacBook Pro

Last month we had a serious debate on whether BlueHost is Going Down on Quality? and surprisingly most of the readers agreed. Perhaps its also because of the continously growing traffic on Sizlopedia.

However I finally decided to get a dedicated server. Ross of SimpleHelp was kind enough to guide me in choosing a good dedicated hosting provider and I ended up buying a server from ThePlanet.

Even though its an unmanaged server, ThePlanet support guided me all the way in setting up my new server. I have cPanel/WHM plus I have much command over SSH (Thanks to Ubuntu terminal) so handling things is a smooth job.

I have already transfered Picsopedia to the server and its showing some good response. In the next couple of hours I will be completely moving Sizlopedia to the new server so the site may seem down for some of the readers.

Once the DNS has propagated, you will again be able to visit the site with much faster speed and efficiency. Don't forget to give me your feedback on this.

Update: The transfer was successful all thanks to my 4 Backup transfer techniques. However I did lose some comments which was a result of the slow DNS resolution. I apologize to the readers who commented on this post but their comments were lost during the transfer.

March 2008 made the 14th successful month of Sizlopedia as a blog which has been struggling to create a difference in the blogosphere. While I was not so active at Sizlopedia in March, I learned quite a few new things about social networks and become a Twitter addict. I also switched to Linux (Ubuntu) and gave up Windows forever.

Surprising in March, Chitika helped Sizlopedia make more money than Kontera ever did in a month. However in April I plan to try the new Kontera Hybrid ads as I have been personally invited by Kontera to try them out.

In the start of February 2008, I did not post any blog stats for the month of January 2008 because of some undisclosed reasons. This disappointed a lot of readers and I have been getting emails asking me to continue posting the blog statistics series. So after much consideration I have decided to continue the series with a different name now called Sizlopedia Tech Talk.

It is really becoming hard for me to cope with Sizlopedia and my other online projects because of my studies but I will try my best not to miss any event or news related to technology ever. Exact 1 year ago Sizlopedia.com came into being. I started this blog as a platform to share my interests and knowledge. The blog now primarily focuses on topics such as Blogging, Technology, Gadgets, Windows, Google, Tips and Tricks and Making Money Online ventures.

I have discovered a whole new world in the year 2007 and look forward to discover more of it in the coming years.

You heard that right! This blog will soon turn into a 100% Google Adsense Revenue Sharing blog and I will be the chief editor. For those bloggers who want to make profit out of their articles and want to get recognition in the blogosphere, they will be welcomed at Sizlopedia as authors and will be able to make 100% revenue out of their exclusive technology articles through the Google Adsense program.

This is yet to be implemented here on Sizlopedia. I will make an announcement as soon as vacancies for authors are open.

The Free Wiki Blog Project

The Free Wiki Blog will be a new blog based on the domain TheFreeWiki.com and it will introduce the concept of Wiki Blogging to the Blogosphere. It will be a blog very similar to Google Knol where authors write articles and make money out of it. Plus top authors will be rewarded each month for their great efforts.

This is going to be one of my biggest project of 2008 so I hope it goes well and I will be working more on it day by day.

October was mainly a month of mass disappointments for me. First of all I was busy with some new startups and projects and therefore could not give enough time to my blog and secondly Google was evil kind enough to drop my blog's Google Pagerank from 5 to 3 following the paid link activities.

August was another exciting month for me and Sizlopedia when it comes to blog traffic and statistics. The traffic was not as much as that of July but it was not even far behind. The sweet thing to notice is that in August my search engine traffic was even greater than the referring and direct traffic. Also there was some fluctuation in the earning graphs as I removed Google adsense ads from the blog for 1 whole week due to the launch of my new design. Finally I am back and so is Sizlopedia. I have been really busy in the past couple of days. JohnChow made me jealous of his new blog design which is really amazing and I made a firm decision to make a unique styled web 2.0 theme for Sizlopedia and finally here it is in front of you all.

Free Professional Logo

I was very happy to know that Logo Design Works have selected Sizlopedia for their Free Professional Logo Design Project which is only available to top blogs. The lucky blog which gets selected for this great project is assigned a lead designer which makes 3 amazing logo design concepts for the blog. I asked my designer to redesign my old logo instead of making a totally new one. The final result was charming (as you can see above) and I really recommend their service to anyone who wants to get a professionally designed logo. I was lucky enough to get the logo for free which has an actual worth of $197 (Bronze Logo Design Package). I think that the new logo exactly reflects the content of my blog which is technology, blogging and Web 2.0 and I hope everyone likes it.

Sizzling Theme and Design

It all started on a dark and mysterious night when I came to know that JohnChow has now got a unique blog design. I headed over to his blog and the design (though very much over-crowded) really impressed me to the bits. Then I decided to make a unique blog design of my own (of course I did not have $599 to waste on a blog design) and worked almost 36 hours non-stop to bring before you this beauty. In this new theme I have carefully considered the presentation of my content and I think it looks brilliant. The theme uses very light blends along with some Photoshoped graphics to give the complete Web 2.0 unique look. I am still working on the footer and trying to optimize the theme for Google Adsense.

Sizlopedia 2.0

The new theme along with the professional logo combined is now known as Sizlopedia 2.0 and shall remain the unique identity of Sizlopedia from now on (unless I don't envy someone else again lol). I have changed the design of this blog more than a hundred times and still can't find the right one (at least thats what I think). Instead of paying a heavy amount to buy a unique design for this blog why not get it re-designed for free? But to do this I will need the support of my fellow readers.

Finally after all this hard work and day/night struggle its a relief to see that my hard work has paid me off really well. I always worked as a person who does not work for the sake of money rather his interests but its a delight to know that often you modesty can pay you off in a much beautiful manner and the same has happened with me for which I thank God Almighty.

My First Sweet Little Adsense Cheque

The payee name you see on the cheque above i.e. Saad Hamid is actually my real name. Obviously you did not expect Dj Flush to be my real name lol that is just my online codename. This cheque has a very long and very sad story. Making up to $868 was not an easy job. I had to lose a lot of things for that and indeed I gained a lot in return.

It all started when I and a friend used to own the sweet SizzlingWorld.com forums about 11 months ago. It was a very well populated forum and the main audience was targeted from Pakistan i.e. where I live. I earned almost $300-400 from that forum but still had my cheque on hold because I was not 18 then and could not cash the money. One sad day the host i.e. Lypha went down and all the database was lost and forum was history. Then I started blogging in January and made made $400-500 from this blog till April and finally the cheque is here.

Colors

The colors and blends in the nature give me new ideas and server for me as my biggest inspiration. Ideas that do not blend together with right mixtures are just words and the ideas that make you fall into oceans of thoughts are not words, they are Life.

Love

I am at last a human too. A person who likes to be loved and a person who simple loves to love someone else. Though my love is not with me anymore but I miss her a lot. She gives me the potential to go on and on thinking about her memories and living up this life. I wish wherever she is, she lives happily and cherises her life.

Technology

The Tech World is another inspiration of mine that gives me the energy to search more and do more. That is the reason I focus this blog more on technology than on anything else. The technology world is never ending and keeps on growing and growing at a rapid pace. One who keeps himself parallel to this world is one with the most prominent ideas in this world.

Life

I take life itself as the biggest inspiration. Life teaches you things that no being can teach you. It gives you experiences, it gives you relations, it teaches you how to tackle with situations that you cannot cater. It is all about having a life that from which you can learn. I have always been a learner and till my death shall be learning as much as I can and as fast as I can from my Life.

Death

This may be a weird thought. But Death is an inspiration to live. Death tells you that there is a day after which our beings will all be spiritual. We will have nothing to do after that and it is the end of our being, not life. Life after death is the next phase of life for me and it is one inspiration that asks me to live my life to the fullest.

Paranormality

The study of supernatural beings have always been another inspired me to search more and more around me. This is one study that tells me about the odds and naturals of the world and gives me the potential to search and discover new phenomena that nobody else has ever known.
