Now a days the Internet is full of dynamic content
that is updated on a daily and hourly basis. Still there is a whole community of leechers out there who cannot get their lazy asses to do some work and rely on the content of other blogs and websites. To be honest
I have only once never copied anything at all since the time I have started blogging
Whenever Blogs update their content these lame asses come to their show and copy the stuff over to their site or blogs but the question remains how to stop them or track them down.
Some days ago I was reading this post from Blog-Op about a Wordpress Auto BlogPlugin that steals your blog source
I think I have been a victim of this plugin once too here on Sizlopedia
The post at Blog-Op acted as a catalyst to my emotions
so I planned to write a post on how to track down your blog content theft
Search For Copied Content Using Copyscape
Copyscape is a great online manual tool that helps you scan the web for content copies of your blog posts or webpages. Most of the bloggers are already aware of this tool to help save their content from being copied. For those who dont know this tool is highly recommended to track down the your content thief.
Monitor Your Content Using Copysentry
Copysentry is a similar tool like Copyscape and is powered by Copyscape itself but it is paid and it is automated. It protects your site against plagiarism and content theft by monitoring and scanning the Internet web for copies of your content and notifies you instantly through email. Its advanced technology makes it one of the best plagiarism protection services in the Internet market.
Tracking Down The Leechers Webhost
Now that you have your leecher’s site infront of your eyes note down the base url of site and get ready to play FBI
Go to Reverse IP/Lookup Tool and put down the URL of the leecher’s website in the field to get the IP address of the leecher’s webhost.
Once you have got the IP address of the leecher’s webhost put that IP in the same Reverse IP/Lookup Tool to get the Web address of Leechers Webhost.
Once you have got the Leechers Webhost you are finally on the same road
Google The Leechers Webhost Address
Once you have got the leechers webhost address Google shall do the job for you. Go to Google and put the leechers webhost address
You are more likely to get the Webhosts Official Webpage
Visit their site and as there is a 99% chance they will have a ‘Contact’ Page, Use it and inform them about the leecher that is using your blog content without your permission which is strictly illegal. Keep it fair and clean
Who wants to get sued over night for the sake of compromising some blog content :P? Therefore it is more likely that either the webhost will warn the leecher to remove the copied content from your blog or they will simply suspend his blog/website. In either case Good for you
File A DMCA Report Against The Leecher
Our great boy genius Rishi informed me about this very step as it is very neccessary to take some legal action against the leecher/thief of your content so I am sharing with my blog audience
What he suggests is that whoever leeches/steals your blog content you should file a Digital Millenium Copyright Act or DMCA Report against the culprit as it ensures that legal actions will definitely be taken against the leecher
To file a DMCA report against a person on the web you should email your situation to the following email addresses with a petition to save and protect your original content from being leeched with a subject as ‘Cease And Desist letter - Sizlopedia’ where ‘Sizlopedia’ represents me as the victim of Content leeching. Following are the addresses
- [Leechers Email]
- dmca-reports@go
ogle.com - dmca@[Leechers-Host-Url]
- dmca-team@techn
orati.com
This shall ensure that some legal actions shall be taken
Rishi Thanls a lot for this tipI hope the post was informative and interesting ![]()

Good post, and thanks for the link
I’ve contacted the scraping scumbag’s host, so we shall see.
I’ve also reported him to Google Adsense to hopefully get his account suspended and lose him whatever revenue he’s gained.
Just click on the ‘ads by Goooogle’ button, then choose the option to rate the ad, then report their sorry ass!
good work DJ
i ve read a similar article at Labnol.blogspot.com
a article written by Labnol in his blog
in which he gives us many options on wat to do in
case your content is copied…
Do the leechers post take all the posts or is it only one or two post? I found 2 posts that were copied and and at the bottom saying [from LyteByte].
I guess there is nothing much we can do even if we spot the culprit .
Well even if we have detected plagiarism, we have to spend some amount to get justice. And no one wills to take the trouble of laws and stuff so these cheats are safe upto a great extent.
@ Chris - All I can say is that you could’nt have done better
@ Shashank - I also visit Amit Agarwal’s blog sometime but never found a post related to Content Protection. Would love if you could provide the link
@ Mr.Byte - Well if you are asking about that Auto-Blog Plugin
Can’t say much because it is Auto lol
@ Madhur - Right you are
Agree I do lol but still You can file a DMCA against the culprit its very helpful often
@ Sharique Bhai - Right you are
but Try we must hehe
Great Information, Sir DJ Flush ..
I have been using Copyscape and Copysentry since a long time and they are indeed great tools. Another good thing is that they work for any type of website as their primary focus is on the actual content…
Those Plugins were actually an addition to my knowledge
And … ohh yes !
Hats off to the Siz Teamz
A good article. Just two comments:
1 - You do not specify the Jurisdiction of DMCA. I thought it was USA only. Although if offences are imprisonable for more than a year judges could extradite people under some Treaties (such as the dodgy one signed by our - UK - govt a few years ago).
2 - I am quite new, but I have a linking policy on my about page:
“Copyright and Linking Policies
* Copyright of all material on this site is asserted by the author. Copyright in quotations from other sites belong to the authors of the articles, and are acknowledged, usually with a hyperlink to the original source.
* Where video and audio clips are used on this site, these are included in an editorial context - and are therefore covered by “Fair Use” principles.
* Where documents or media files referenced from other sites are used, these are copied to a local archive. This policy is to avoid using others’ bandwidth, and to minimise broken hyperlinks. I usually email the other site when I do this.
Quoting Articles from this Site
* Part of an article may be quoted on others’ websites provided that they are used in context as part of a larger article, and that a link to the original is included.
* Articles reproduced in their entirety, with or without acknowledgement, or material used as the substantive portion of an article on another website, are subject to a use fee. The minimum fee for one off use of an article £125 or $250.”
The fee is there so that if someone steals an article I can send an invoice with no further notice. I don’t expect to use it, but you never know.
Matt
Nice Post but all i can see is you cant stop piracy but i would only do one thing get his blog deleted from Google thats all no use for doing all other things like report webhost or etc lol
