Using Proxy Server with Browsers
Now that you have your proxy server list. To use it with Firefox follow the trail:
Tools –> Options –> Advanced –> Network –> Settings
Select ‘Manual Proxy Configuration’ and enter the proxy server you would like to use along with its port.
For Internet Explorer:
Tools –> Internet Options –> Connections –> Lan Settings
Check ‘Use a Proxy Server for Your LAN’ and enter the address and port of your proxy server.

For accessing orkut and other websites from college or office use web proxies.Even tough some maybe slow there are really some fast ones too.
On the other hand if you use the method mentioned above to access blocked sites then there is no method better than this one.

Yeah man! in the UAE and Dubai everything is blocked. All proxy servers are blocked. Please does anyone know a way to get around this?

I don’t think some people understand to what extent stuff is blocked in the UAE. You cannot access browse pages of myspace, not orkut, not hi5. You cannot access ANY proxy websites to allow you to surf webpages anonymously. You CANNOT access any pages that allow you to download programs which provide you with free proxy lists. You CANNOT access any pages related majorly to proxies period! The last thing which did work was downloading TOR PROXY as an add on for Fire Fox, but seems the functionality of this program has been blocked as well! I’m not access for help, because i know none of you smart mouthed guys have a solution. You keep giving websites of proxies which will not work.
I’ve got a REAL solution for people living in the UAE. Change your provider from Etisalat to DU. There are some sites which are not blocked by DU. OR go to a caffee at the Media or Internet City where the entire WWW is unblocked. Yes you can even surf porn if you REALLY wish to. So for all UAE members trying to hopefully seek a solution to access your favorite blocked website, forget it, its hopeless. These guys at Etisalat know what they are doing.
