How To add Shadow and Transparency Effects To Windows Borders

Windows XP Logo

If you find the default Windows XP devoid of funky effects, it’s not that hard to style things up. In this post, I’ll tell you how to add shadow effects to Window borders using a free tool called Y’z Shadow on Windows XP

First, go to this page and grab your copy of Y’z Shadow tool, unzip and execute the .exe. The program loads, and you see the in the system tray. If you didn’t notice, shadows have already started appearing in Window borders!

Shadows in Windows and Menus

It’s time to play with the settings. Click on the Y’z Shadow icon in the system tray, there you have the options. You can select different shadow styles for active and inactive windows, choose the shadow color.

Y’z Shadow not only adds shadow effects to Windows, but also it adds a transparency shade to the menus. You can set the transparency level and also set ‘fade in’. Y’z Shadow can also add drop shadows to the Windows Taskbar.

The depth and width of the drop shadows in Windows can be adjusted in the settings dialog. Go add shadows to Windows by downloading Y’z Shadows

Even I like it :) but previously I was unable to use it on my old computer due to some technical problems.

I have tried it now on my new computer and it works smooth and calm.
