Developers have finally come up with a Portable Version of Firefox 3 Beta which is free to use and doesn’t require any sort of manual installation. It can be used directly through one of your hard drives or can even be taken around anywhere using a Flash USB drive.
Firefox Beta 3 Portable will not write any data to your hard drive or registry and is therefore considered as safe to use. The good thing about this portable version is that it does not conflict with your installation of Firefox 2 so it means you can use both of these Firefox versions simultaneously.
However if you are a web developer and you want to test out your new site on both Firefox 2 and Firefox 3 beta Portable by running them simultaneously then you will have to apply a little manual tweak as shared by DownloadSquad.
Find the FirefoxPortable.ini file in \Other\Sources\ and copy it to the directory that has FirefoxPortable.exe. Edit FirefoxPortable.ini with NotepadĀ and change AllowMultipleInstances=false so that it says true. Save the file and you can now run Firefox 2 and 3 at the same time.
