Fluency Admin Theme for Wordpress 2.5

I just upgraded this blog to Wordpress 2.5 today and I can’t express the extent to which I was disappointed. The new admin theme is a total turn-off and the overall usability experience of Wordpress has taken a step backward instead of heading up in a new direction.

I was so much frustrated with the new Wordpress 2.5 color scheme that I had to Google in hope for finding a better admin theme plugin and to my surprise, Fluency admin theme was there all along to save me.

Fluency admin theme for Wordpress gives your blog admin panel a new look and design that is not the best but is still far more better than the default admin panel theme.

Its hard to imagine what made the Wordpress developers include the new admin theme while dumping the old one but I guess its something we should get used to now as this new admin theme is not going to change for long.

Fluency is a dark colored theme that arranges elements of your admin panel in a more organized manner. This also helps you concentrate more on writing as the theme gives your mind a peaceful sensation (which is highly needed while writing a new blog post)

If you have already upgraded to Wordpress 2.5 then you should definitely give this admin theme a try. To use this theme simply download, upload to plugins directory and activate it through the plugins manager.

I don’t think that it is a “crap admin theme”. I think that it rocks! That color scheme is a good combination of colors.

Hey, is that drop box to the right of ‘manage’ made by ozh’s plugin?

@Sumesh

You guessed it right. The drop down box is not compatible with the latest Fluency admin theme plugin but they will be adding support for it in the future release.

Yes, support for Ozh’s plugin is available in Fluency 1.1 which was released last week. I’m also working on support for Yellow Swordfish’s drop down plugin for the next release.

Your theme rocks man… Amazing design buddy…

I have to upgrade to wordpress 2.5 but wanted to see whether their is some glitch…

Hope to upgrade soon!

Looks good. Going to give it a try. Thanks for sharing DJ.

@Ashfame

You are welcome

The deafult admin theme for Wordpress is getting mixed response. While some like, some don’t. I also hate the color scheme. Will try this when i upgrade.

Thank you for the post.

I have a question a bit other than the topic under discussion. How have you made the header image clickable in your blog? I tried a lot by editing the php files for the theme but I am unable to find the header image source in my header.php file so that I can add link tag.

Can u let me know please?

@Waqas

I just saw your blog. The reason you can’t make your header image clickable is because it is loaded by the css and no in the header.php file itself.

However the header logo you see on Sizlopedia is loaded from within the header.php so I just made it clickable.

I have tried the fluency theme on demo blog for RC, it looked good.

DJ,
One suggestion, the post in featured is getting repeated in category section as well. You can use the post Id and check if the post is duplicated.

Well i have been using both the flency admin and also the default wp admin.I feel default is easy to use…
