Apple has finally pushed the new iPhone Firmware 2.0.1 to iTunes. The new firmware will fix minor problems in the iPhone and iPod Touch related to slow feedback and keyboard lag.
The original iPhone 2.0 Firmware made a lot of applications crash and hopefully this bug will also be fixed in this new firmware.

It is currently available for download for both iPhone and iPod Touch users via iTunes update however direct download links can also be found at the end of this post.
Some of minor issues and glitches fixed by this Firmware are:
- Contacts are now more responsive
- Backup via iTunes is much faster
- Keyboard taps now respond without any lag
If the Firmware is too big for you to download via iTunes, then you can use the following direct download links:
For iPhone 2G

For iPhone 3G

Just make sure to hold the Shift key while pressing the Update button in iTunes to restore the Firmware manually from a location on your PC.

Excellent - Thanks for the Direct download links

You can also download the firmware files here: http://www.iphone-hacks.com/2008/08/04/iphone-firmware-201-released/
But don’t upgrade if you want to jailbreak or unlock!
