Flickr for iPhone, Its Alive but still Web-based

While at one side web companies are rushing to convert their iPhone-optimized websites into native iPhone apps, Flickr on the other hand just doesn't seem to care at all about the iPhone hype.

Flickr remains the only popular social network to not have a native iPhone app whereas other social networks like Facebook, MySpace are already on the lead.

Recently Flickr redesigned the mobile version of its website to provide better UI for the iPhone users.

Users can point Safari to http://m.flickr.com on their iPhone and enjoy the new ajax-based interface to explore new and recently uploaded photos from their contacts.

The only downside is that there is no slideshow capability and you can't directly upload photos to your account through the iPhone. Though the image search and navigation functionality makes Flickr another interesting stop for all iPhone users.

Users can even comment on photos of their contacts and view a full-screen version of photos by tapping on the thumbnails. This makes Flickr more fun and user-friendly for the iPhone fans.

Lets hope Flickr releases a native app for the iPhone soon and adds functionality to upload photos directly from iPhone photo gallery just like the Facebook app.
