iPhone 4.0 Firmware to support Multitasking

A report by AppleInsider claims that the upcoming iPhone 4.0 Firmware will boast support for multitasking which would allow third party apps to run in the background.

As of now, multitasking remains to be the only dilemma on the iPhone OS which needs a solution, of course if we overlook the existence of Flash. Interestingly! all other mobile OS such as Android, Symbian, Blackberry OS and WebOS have support for multitasking which allow the user to run applications in the background.

It was reported that “Apple plans to deliver a multi-tasking manager that leverages interface technology already bundled with its Mac OS X operating system” that pretty much gives the feeling that it will be something like Exposé for Mac OS X. The video below shows a concept of how multitasking would work in iPhone.

For those of you who can’t wait, Jailbreak your iPhone and install the Backgrounder and ProSwitcher apps to get the multitasking experience on the iPhone before its even official.
