Nexus Two – No plans for a Second Phone, says Google

In a recent interview with the Telegraph, Google's head Eric Schmidt revealed that Google Nexus One will remain to be the only Google-branded Android phone and that Google is not looking into the possibilities of a Nexus Two.

The Nexus One, released by Google earlier this year, has failed to mark a good score in the market (some might even call it a flop) and that may one of reason behind Google's decision to not look further into device iterations and leave it to those who do it best i.e. HTC, Motorola, etc.

The idea a year and a half ago was to do the Nexus One to try to move the phone platform hardware business forward. It clearly did. It was so successful, we didn't have to do a second one.

This brings ends to a well-circulated rumor that suggested that Google might be planning to launch a Nexus Two - with a sliding keyboard and more features for enterprise users. Also discussed in the interview were plans related to ChromeOS and Android 3.0 both of which shall make an appearance later this year.

As of now, the Nexus One happens to be only Android phone which has official support for Froyo 2.2 that boasts a lot of new features, improvements and even native support for Flash 10.1. Opposed to popular belief, there is quite a possibility that the Nexus One may have actually turned out to be profitable for Google.
