A couple of weeks ago Android 2.2 'Froyo' was previewed at the Google I/O 2010 where Google claimed it to have the fastest mobile web browser on the planet and to our surprise, a report from Ars Technica confirms this.

In a Javascript performance benchmark test, it was seen that the mobile web browser on Froyo was twice as fast as Mobile Safari on iPhone 4 for SunSpider and for V8, the speed performance of the former was 5 times fast as compared to the latter. In the video below, Engadget tests the web browser performance on an iPhone 4 vs Android Froyo (without Flash) on a Nexus One.
Good news for Google is that their claims have indeed turned out to be true and that Android "does" really have the fastest mobile web browser on the planet. Perhaps its time for Android users to boast around a bit.
