There wasn't much hope left for HP after they decided to pull the plug on the HP Slate but recently after HP took over Palm, it was speculated that HP might plan to make a comeback in the scene with a WebOS Tablet and now we see that pretty much happening for real soon.

Pictured above is the HP CTO Phil McKinney who seems to be holding in his hand something that appears to have the same form-factor of a Tablet. The actual device image has been blacked out for obvious reasons.
The image indicates that HP is working under-the-hood full time to bring a Tablet to the market, let's not call it an iPad competitor this time, but we sure hope that it runs WebOS with all it's beautiful multitasking capabilities.
On the other hand we have products like the ViewPad by ViewSonic and the Samsung Galaxy Tab which have already been set iPad as their target and will be making an appearance this month at IFA. Only time will tell if HP's decision to walk in late to the party actually helps the company or not.
