Insider reports reveal that T-Mobile, one of the leading wireless carrier in the US, is in negotiations with Huawei to launch the new IDEOS handsets in the US. The handset is powered by the Google's Android 2.2 and would be one the most economical smartphone. However, Huawei and T-Mobile were heard to be on entry level talks, critics were of the view that the deal would go through swiftly. This would be a great benefit to both the firms, as the results are expected to be available within four to six weeks.
One the biggest reason T-Mobile seems to be trusting Huawei in handsets would be the vast knowledge and experience in wireless towers and data centers. The telco equipment which the company has been providing for long is the strong trust which makes the handset convenient enough to be tabled for talks. Plus an added advantage being the smartphone powered by Android.
Huawei unveiled the IDEOS smartphone at the IFA trade show in Berlin. The smartphone would cost between USD $100 and $170, depending on the model and specs. This being the initial price of the phone which T-Mobile might need to pay Huawei, the remaining package remains in the hand of the operator as to what package plan it distributes.
The IDEOS features; a 2.8 inch touchscreen, a 3.2 megapixel camera, GPS, Wi-Fi, powered by a Qualcomm processor, Android OS 2.2 (ability to turn the phone into a wireless hotspot) and much more.
