It seems so that popular blogging site WordPress is bent on facilitating smartphone users who tend to blog remotely, and we’ve seen WordPress coming up with mobile applications to compliment this cause. Now, an official app for WordPress blogging software is live on the rapidly growing Ovi Store, Nokia’s portal for mobile apps. This app lets you blog on the move, and the best part is that bloggers using Nokia phones don’t have to switch to other platforms which have had an app for WordPress previously.
Mobile operating systems Android, BlackBerry and iPhone already have released official apps for WordPress blogging. The said apps work for blogs that are hosted on the servers of WordPress as well as blogs that are hosted somewhere else but use the WordPress platform and control management system. Apart from support for Maemo, the app also supports S60 devices even though Nokia has dropped the Symbian platform.
WordPress announced the public beta version and added in the blogpost that:
We are very excited to share with all of you that in the coming weeks we’ll be opening up a beta test for the official Open Source WordPress for Nokia app. We’ll be leveraging the Qt framework which means will be able to support both the S60 and Maemo platforms.
Like other counterparts, the Official WordPress app for Nokia is free, which is now available for download via the Ovi Store. Unfortunately, it is not yet compatible with Symbian3 Devices currently but runs on N97 mini and the X6.
