Ardent Xbox fans rejoice! The previously mentioned Xbox LIVE Fall 2010 update is officially rolling out now, the update including ESPN, Zune Music and Netlifx with it. A notification will be sent out to users, albeit gradually offering them the said update.
The biggest offering of this update is ESPN for Xbox LIVE which provides users with the following facilities, although a Xbox LIVE Gold Subscription is required to access ESPN for Xbox LIVE.
- Access to more than 3,500 sporting events per year, including college football, MLB, NBA and soccer.
- Full HD video with DVR capabilities.
- With the Games at a Glance feature, viewers can quickly check the scores of other sporting events, without leaving the game that is currently playing.
- Viewers can predict the winner of games and see the percentage of votes among other Xbox LIVE ESPN viewers.
- A voice chat feature will connect up to seven individuals so people can watch the game with their friends even if they’re not with their friends.
Microsoft also brings unlimited music to the Xbox LIVE via Zune Pass, through which only for a small fortune of $15 unlimited music streaming and DRM-infused downloads can be obtained. Using Netflix for Xbox live, users will be able to experience a streamlined search function making it much easier to find the movies and TV shows they want to watch.
This update is being rolled out a few days before the much awaited motion capture gaming controller, Microsoft Kinect hits the shelves, on November 10. Support for Kinect has been integrated directly into the new dashboard. Looking at what this update has to offer, it seems so that this particular update has its sights set more on home entertainment rather than gaming itself.
