Google never fails in mesmerizing us with the updates it brings to its own applications for various mobile platforms. Yesterday we told you that the Google Voice app had finally landed on the iPad and iPod Touch, something which has for long been awaited. Now, we’re telling you that the Google Voice Search app has become more accurate with a feature called personalized recognition, the details of which you will be able to find out by reading on below.

So when a user opts into personalized recognition, Google relates the recordings of the words that the user asks to recognize with their Google account, these words are then used automatically to build a speech model specifically for the user. Obviously, this personalized speech model will then deliver greater recognition accuracy. In simple terms, the app will learn the talking style of a user gradually over time and would be more accurate in terms of recognition using a specialized voice model. Users conscious about their privacy do not need to worry as this recording functionality can easily be switched off as well.
The Official Google Mobile Blog says:
The personalized recognition functionality is currently available for English in the United States. We plan to support other countries and languages in the near future. To enable it, you must have Android 2.2 or higher, and download the latest version of the Voice Search app from Android Market. The new app also includes some improvements to name recognition and speed, especially over 3G and EDGE connections.
Best of all, this highly personal version of Google Voice Search can now be instantly downloaded on smartphones running Android 2.2 or above. Let us see when the iPhone version of Google Voice Search, rolls out.
