9to5mac reports that job listings pointing towards the LTE wireless data technology have appeared in Apple’s database before, but they were not like the one that has been found recently. Interesting no? More on that, after the break.

Previous jobs listings mentioned LTE technology-familiarity as a skill, but this job opening lists the integration of LTE in iOS devices as a “specific duty.”

Specific Duties
- Implementation, Integration, customization, enhancement and maintenance of L1-3 Protocols for one or more of the following air interface: GSM/UMTS, CDMA (1x/EVDO),LTE etc.

One can actually determine what is to come, based on these job listings. With Apple listing the integration of LTE in their iOS devices as a specific duty, this seems like a concrete indication that they are building and potentially planning to sell devices with an LTE 4G data connection in the future.

What came as a surprise was the fact that the CDMA based iPhone 4 did not support LTE, however it is expected to be included in the iPhone 5 which is said to appear in June later this year.
