Verizon 3G iPad 2 Connectivity Issue Being Investigated By Apple

Everybody was pretty happy when Verizon Wireless finally decided to offer Apple products alongside AT&T in the US. It first started with the Verizon iPhone 4 and now the Verizon 3G iPad 2 has started selling out. However, not all is that good for Verizon 3G iPad 2 owners. Many of them have taken to online forums and have complained of connectivity issues.

Basically, this is the issue that Verizon 3G iPad 2 owners are facing:

Wi-Fi functions work well enough, but 3G connections either take several minutes or never occur at all. While there's no clear evidence that all Verizon iPad 2 users face the same problem, the complaints coming in from those affected are very similar. When the Verizon iPad 2's 3G function is deactivated, it will not reactivate or connect without a reboot. Switching the device in and out airplane mode has no effect.

The following solutions have been marked for fixing this problem. Needless to say, everybody gets a bit irked if having to reboot their iPad 2 incessantly.

  • Turn the cellular data switch to on.
  • Power off the iPad.
  • Power up the iPad.
  • Turn on cellular data. Data switch is already on.
  • The Verizon service turns on and connects properly.

On the other hand, Apple in a statement to All Things D said:

We are aware that a small number of iPad 2 customers have experienced connectivity issues with the Verizon 3G network and we are investigating it

More updates, as they come in. Stay tuned!
